Shall I tell you a secret? I’ve found something that allows me to clear my head. It gives me energy, which improves my productivity and allows me to think carefully. This miracle drug also keeps me physically in shape. Once a week I can jump out of the band for a day and stuff myself with some delicious biscuits without gaining a single kilo. My miracle cure also makes me happier and happier in life. And if you thought that was all, I also sleep a lot better because of it.

Setting priorities

Got a little curious yet? My secret is actually relatively simple. I don’t use pep or stimulants. Instead of plunging into the couch after a hard day’s work, I put on my sportswear, pack my bag and go to the sports centre. There I don’t finish all the cardio machines, but I do CrossFit-like exercises; a combination of weightlifting, athletics and gymnastics. I do this at least three times a week. Once a week I train in a small group under the supervision of a personal trainer. I feel fitter and more energetic and can therefore cope more physically and mentally. I really don’t have time for that’, some say to me in a defensive tone when I talk about it. A matter of setting priorities if you ask me. You have to make time for it. Why worry about your hair, your clothes and make-up when you don’t even take the time for your internal ‘I’?

Better in my skin

I also have a company, two even, a man, an item on the radio, a dog that also deserves some attention and the necessary obligations. I work at least 60 hours a week. But I’m sure that if I didn’t exercise, I would never be able to maintain this lifestyle. Especially strength training, in which I really work myself for three quarters of an hour to an hour deep in the sweat, ensures that I can function better in daily life. My posture, for example, has improved. But exercise not only helps me to solve physical ailments, it also prevents the same problems. Lift two heavy shopping bags? No problem at all! Moreover, these extra muscles cause me to burn more. So come on with those cookies, once a week!

Keep going and keep going!

I understand that ‘non-sports’ is not always a choice. For example, if your health doesn’t allow it, it can be very annoying. I know that from experience. Still, I advise everyone, if at all possible, to make time for yourself. After all, you only have one body, so be careful with it. Persevere and continue! Then you might also feel what I feel.
